The transport of goods by road is one of the most popular means for Spanish companies to move their products.<\/p>\n
The regulations and prerequisites for the international transport of goods involve obtaining various authorisations and licences, the characteristics and requirements of which depend both on the nature of the cargo and the destination of the service provided.<\/p>\n
\u2192 Types of authorisations:<\/p>\n
In accordance with the international agreements to which Spain adheres and the regulations of international organisations in which it participates, international transport under authorisation are those in which Spanish carriers have their own authorisations that enable them to carry them out.<\/p>\n
This type of transport is carried out by Spanish carriers without prior authorisation or a specific licence.<\/p>\n
They only need the generic authorisation established in the current regulations to carry out the corresponding shipment.<\/p>\n
There are certain transport activities that do not require a specific licence to be carried out, as they are outside the scope of the Community licence.<\/p>\n
This is particularly the case for postal transport, the transport of medicines, the transport of damaged vehicles, the transport of materials of a private nature and the transport of goods with a GWP of less than 3.5 tonnes.<\/p>\n

\u2192 In turn, according to their origin, they are divided into:<\/p>\n
These are foreign licences granted by agreement between the Spanish Administration and the corresponding foreign state. They allow the haulier to carry out transport from the corresponding foreign state.<\/p>\n
These licences are divided into two categories: according to their period of validity and according to the type of service they offer.<\/p>\n
Multilateral authorisations are issued by international organisations of which Spain is a member. They must be distributed by the Spanish Administration in accordance with the rules established by the organisation in question.<\/p>\n
These licences entitle the carrier to carry out transport from any state that is a member of the international organisation, either to any of them or during transit through their territory.<\/p>\n
There are two types of multilateral authorisations in Spain: Community licences and European Conference of Ministers of Transport (ECMT) authorisations.<\/p>\n
The Community licence is for international public service transport services in the European Union, as well as in Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. It is valid for 5 years.<\/p>\n
The CEMT authorisations are of a multilateral nature and entitle you to carry out transport operations in the member states of the European Conference of Ministers of Transport.<\/p>\n
