Against this backdrop, Transportes Fernández y Aedo, S.L. has benefited from the 2025 Digital Transition Grant Programme, promoted by the Economic Promotion Department of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
A grant scheme to promote business digitalisation in Bizkaia
The Digital Transition Programme is an initiative promoted by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia to support companies in the territory in developing projects related to digital transformation.
The 2025 call had a budget of €3.97 million and was organised into two separate strands: basic digitalisation and advanced digitalisation, depending on the characteristics of each project.
The programme is therefore part of the policies aimed at supporting the competitiveness and modernisation of Bizkaia’s business community.
What types of projects does the Digital Transition Programme cover?
The eligible activities cover different areas related to the incorporation of technology into business operations.
Basic digitalisation includes, among other areas, projects involving business management systems, production and logistics processes, automation, data integration and cybersecurity.
The call also includes an advanced digitalisation strand focused on technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, cloud computing, blockchain, computer vision, 3D simulation and cyber-physical systems.
In this way, the call distinguishes between digitalisation projects linked to a company’s usual management and processes and initiatives involving more advanced digital technologies.
Transport among the sectors eligible for support
The programme covers a range of economic activities. The eligible sectors expressly include transport, alongside industry, construction, industry-related services and wholesale trade.
This means that companies operating in the transport sector can access these grants when they develop projects that meet the requirements established in the call.
In a sector characterised by a high need for coordination and information management, digitalisation is also an area of business development alongside other essential aspects of the activity.
Fernández y Aedo takes part in the 2025 programme
Transportes Fernández y Aedo, S.L. is one of the companies to have benefited from the 2025 Digital Transition Programme.
The grant has been awarded in connection with a company project included in this call by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia.
The company specialises in the road transport of liquid chemical products, a highly specialised field in which business management goes hand in hand with specific requirements relating to safety, applicable regulations and professional training.
The inclusion of this project in the programme provides the company with the support of a public initiative designed to facilitate the digital transformation of businesses in Bizkaia.
