In Carlos Enrique Sánchez’s case, his search for stability and the guidance of his father led him to discover a profession where he could build a future. Today, he is part of the Fernández y Aedo team, where he has found far more than just a job: he has found an environment built on trust, professional growth and teamwork.
Some decisions have the power to change the course of a person’s life. For Carlos Enrique Sánchez, a conversation with his father marked the beginning of a professional journey that, more than a decade later, he continues with the same enthusiasm. Now 42 years old and with around thirteen years of experience in road transport, he says he has found in this profession the stability and peace of mind he had been searching for.
Although he did not grow up in a family of lorry drivers, the transport industry was always present in his life in one way or another. His uncle and godfather both worked in the sector, so it was never unfamiliar to him. However, his first professional experiences followed a very different path.
For several years, he worked in the construction industry, driving a concrete mixer lorry for a subcontractor. At the same time, he held a second job as a nightclub security officer during the evenings. Those were years of hard work and long hours, until he realised he wanted a career offering greater stability and long-term prospects.
At that point, his father’s support proved decisive. He encouraged Carlos to pursue a profession where he could build a solid and lasting career. Although his father passed away relatively recently, Carlos remembers those conversations with great affection and believes they played a crucial role in shaping the future he enjoys today.
Determined to progress professionally, he obtained his ADR certificate for the transport of dangerous goods, opening up new opportunities within the industry and specialising in a field that demands extensive training, responsibility and professionalism.
Before joining Fernández y Aedo, Carlos worked as a self-employed driver for another transport company, an experience he remembers as particularly disappointing due to the lack of professionalism, frequent payment delays and poor management practices.
That experience made him appreciate even more what he found when he joined Fernández y Aedo. From the very beginning, he recognised a serious and professional company where people genuinely matter and where he could carry out his work with confidence and peace of mind.
Carlos particularly values the opportunity that Julene Fernández gave him from day one, placing her trust in him and allowing him to develop professionally within the company. He also expresses his gratitude to his colleague Agustín Fernández, an experienced driver whom he considers a role model and from whom he has learned a great deal throughout his career.
His colleagues describe him as approachable, hardworking and always willing to help. Carlos admits that he is naturally energetic, a quality that perfectly suits the wide range of responsibilities he currently carries out. Alongside his international driving routes, mainly across France and Belgium, he coordinates vehicle maintenance with workshops and plays an active role in training new drivers joining the company.
His work has taken him to many places, although he has a particular fondness for Bayonne and Bordeaux, cities he enjoyed so much that he later returned to visit in his free time. Poland is currently at the top of the list of destinations he would still like to discover.
After more than ten years behind the wheel, Carlos knows that road transport requires responsibility, adaptability and commitment. At the same time, he firmly believes that when you work in an environment based on trust, respect and stability, facing any challenge becomes much easier.
His approach to the profession reflects the same values that define Fernández y Aedo: commitment, professionalism, teamwork and close relationships. When he talks about the future, he has no doubts. His goal is to continue being part of the company for many years to come and, if possible, to retire as a member of the Fernández y Aedo team.
