His favourite city is Leioa and his favourite team is Athletic Bilbao, something that is clear when you see the big flag in the cab of his truck that accompanies him on his travels.

Gontzal is open-minded and likes to meet people. Very active, he likes to do things, experiment and learn. And competitive with himself, he likes to set goals and achieve them.

He has always been familiar with the world of lorries. His father was a lorry driver, so from an early age he was always around lorries, and even his father-in-law is a lorry driver.

At the beginning he always drove fixed lorries, at the age of thirty he drove trailers and for the last thirteen years he has been driving international routes transporting the tanks of Fernández y Aedo, a company where he feels at ease and where he feels that they trust him because they know that he will be up to the task.

After so many years, he has everything organised, he has prepared the food for the whole week and a little tobacco (because it is more expensive in France), but he also likes to eat in a restaurant from time to time if he meets a colleague or to practice French. Gontzal likes contact with people and enjoying the moment. When he has to be with the lorry stationary, he usually watches the news and games on the computer, although he says he doesn’t have much time to spare between paperwork, eating and sleeping.

He is comfortable and confident in his job, believes he has a good orientation and that this is mainly due to the many years he has been driving. He has proven “loopholes” and detours in case the traffic gets complicated, because what motivates him the most is to have been able to control everything on the road, and to arrive on time. He loves to end the week with the satisfaction of having done his job well, of having achieved his objectives.

Gontzal enjoys everything and likes to learn new things. For example, renewing the CAP (continuous training certificate for drivers), which for others is an extra effort, is for him an opportunity to gain knowledge and safety. He speaks what he can in French and “whatever is necessary” because learning a language is more of a challenge for him than an inconvenience.

He likes to drive, and not just the truck. Even if he has been behind the wheel all week, he is happy to take the car or motorbike and go to the beach or get lost.

He is not too lazy to travel anywhere at the weekend or on holidays, especially if it is with his son, a “mini-Gontzal”, who is the most important thing in his life.

She takes part in activities at the ikastola, such as telling stories to the children, and of course she goes to her son’s football matches at weekends.

She really misses seeing him during the week and sharing daily life with him. He doesn’t want to miss this time, so he tries as much as possible to take shorter routes that allow him to be home at the end of the day.

Gontzal is passionate about everything and doesn’t want to miss anything that life has to offer, both in his personal and professional life. It is the most important challenge he has at this point in his life.
