At Fernández y Aedo, we know that commitment, safety and teamwork are essential to carrying out our work to the highest standards. With this philosophy in mind, Julene Fernández, the company’s Managing Director, organised a very special weekend for the drivers in our team, taking part alongside them in all the planned activities.
The event was designed to combine training, personal development and opportunities to spend time together, with one clear objective: to continue growing together as professionals and to strengthen the bonds that make Fernández y Aedo a solid and committed team.
Day one: practical training for safer driving
The first session focused on one of the fundamental pillars of our work: safety.
The training was delivered by José Antonio Hernández, a firefighter from the Bilbao unit, who led a highly interactive programme combining theoretical knowledge with practical exercises based on real-life situations.
During the theoretical part of the session, participants reviewed response protocols for incidents and accidents, preventive measures and procedures that can make all the difference in critical situations. In such a specialised sector as the transport of liquid chemicals by road tanker, being properly prepared is essential.
After a short break to enjoy refreshments and recharge, it was time to put the lessons into practice. Drivers took part in emergency simulations, facing different scenarios in which they had to apply temporary solutions to minimise risks and prevent further damage.
These exercises helped reinforce technical knowledge, improve response capabilities and increase confidence in dealing effectively and calmly with complex situations.
Day two: strengthening the team
The second day was dedicated to the people and relationships that make the company’s day-to-day operations possible.
Led by Aurkene Redondo, from Embor Kontsultoreak, participants attended a series of sessions focused on teamwork, leadership, personal development and the importance of mutual support. It was an opportunity for reflection and learning, allowing everyone to share experiences, strengthen relationships and recognise the value of working together towards common goals.
Because driving may often be an individual task, but being part of a great team requires trust, communication and mutual support.
A fitting end to the experience
Once the training sessions had finished, it was time to enjoy ourselves. The drivers took part in an exciting karting race where, this time, competition took place in a safe and relaxed environment filled with laughter and camaraderie.
The experience concluded with a company lunch, where stories were shared, conversations flowed and the positive atmosphere that defines Fernández y Aedo was once again evident.
These two days provided an opportunity to continue learning, strengthen team cohesion and recognise the value of those who represent our company on the road every single day.
Because at Fernández y Aedo, we believe that investing in people is the best way to continue moving forward with safety, professionalism and commitment.
